Larry Gleason
Acting Coach

"A class with Larry Gleason will challenge you, invigorate you, educate you, and above all expect of you the best you have to bring to the craft of acting."

Kirsti Carnahan,
Producer
StrawHat Auditions

"Be the hero of your own life, not the victim."
Nora Ephron

"Never play the victim in a scene. It is uninteresting. Playwrights write about people who overcome their obstacles, who change their circumstances, who become their own hero."

TESTIMONIALS

"THANK YOU, LARRY -I always forget to tell you how great I feel after one of our sessions — it's such a pleasure and I am always learning and growing!!!"

One of many long-time clients

"Hi Larry, I just want to update you... I had an audition last Sunday that went really really well. I did monologues from Nuts and from Vagina Monologues. That director contacted me later that day and said he'd like to cast me for one of his projects come the new year.
Then on that directors recommendation, the Producer over at Fusion contacted me and I have an audition with him and their director at 11:30 today."
—Albuquerque film actor

"I've seen Larry on stage, and I've worked with him in a class at Circle in the Square - he is quite a talented actor and coach. He's particularly experienced and knowledgeable with the classics.  Most importantly, he's worked steadily at various theaters in the Northeast over the past few years and received terrific reviews for his work. He's one of the few people I would highly recommend.  After all, we can always continue to brush up monologues, work on new ones, and just generally stay creatively stimulated, excited about the work. He also offers private coaching for those of you less interested in a class environment."

Another TESTIMONIAL

Hello Larry,

I hope you've been well in the years since I had you as a teacher at Circle (2009-2010). I loved being in your class as a student for text analysis and scene study. Your insights to scene work were incredibly eye opening to me, as well as a very tricky note that you gave me once about "Mugging" in a scene, which I took to heart and truly helped steer me to becoming a better actor.

I wanted to drop you a line as while in school some of my classmates decided to do a scene from "God of Carnage". I think we'd all seen it while on Broadway and had enjoyed/fallen in love with the show. I recall when it had been brought in you coached us all about how it was an incredibly challenging piece because you constantly had to be aware of the shifting alliances between the characters. This spring, as theater reopened in Maine, I had the pleasure of being cast in a production of "God of Carnage". I remembered your notes from that day and paid particular attention to who/where/why alliances were forming and falling apart. It was an absolute pleasure to work on and feedback from cast-mates, the director, and audience were that you could truly see those shifts occurring throughout the piece.

It was great to have "God of Carnage" circle back into my life all these years later and a wonderful thrill knowing the challenging, meaty role that awaited. I loved being able to reflect on what you'd taught us about the piece and I wanted to share my gratitude with you. I hope you are well and have found artistic fulfillment even through the pandemic.

All the best.
